New school CBO
Arthur Cuffy has been named the Sunnyvale School District’s chief business officer (CBO), succeeding Lori van Gogh, who will be retiring at the end of the school year after nine years with the district. Cuffy’s was set to start his new job April 1.
As CBO, Cuffy will oversee the district’s business services, maintenance, operations, transportation, student nutrition and facility bond projects. He moves to Sunnyvale from the San Jose Unified School District, where he was director of fiscal services.
Spring for Education
The Fremont Union High Schools Foundation, an all-volunteer organization that raises money for programs ranging from STEM to theater arts, will hold its annual “Spring for Education” fundraiser on Friday, April 5, at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino.
The doors open at 5 p.m. with student performances, demonstrations and displays, followed by a dinner and auction. Tickets are $95 at https://fuhsfoundation.org/sp4ed2024.
The foundation’s fundraising supports students in the district’s five high schools in the areas of academic enrichment programs, including STEM classes, visual and performing arts, robotics, journalism and athletics; student support services, including a parent resource network, mental health services and online resources; and college and career readiness, including college application assistance, resume writing and job fairs.
Hands-on volunteers
The city of Sunnyvale is looking for energetic individuals to volunteer at Hands on the Arts. The event is set for Saturday, May 11, at the Sunnyvale Community Center.
Volunteers help kids with art projects and assist artists by organizing, prepping, restocking and cleaning up supplies.
