Sunnyvale Community Players stage ‘Superstar’

‘Superstar’ in Sunnyvale

The Sunnyvale Community Players’ production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” is set to open April 13 and the company is promising to bring the rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to life “in new and unexpected ways.”

The show was groundbreaking when it debuted in the early ’70s, a musical version of the story of Jesus from the perspective of Judas Iscariot. According to the Players’ website, “This production will give those of you who have loved the show since the 1970s that nostalgic feel while still inviting those who may be new to this story a great introduction to this classic.”

“Jesus Christ Superstar” runs through May 5 at Sunnyvale Community Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive. For tickets, visit https://www.sunnyvaleplayers.org/jesuschristsuperstar.
