Woman shot while sitting in car in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 32-year-old woman was shot Sunday night as she sat in a car in East Oakland, authorities said.

The woman was being treated for a wound to her neck. Her condition was not available Monday morning. Another person in the vehicle was not injured.

The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Parker Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard.

Police said the woman was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle and another person was in the driver’s seat. Both live in Oakland, authorities said.

Another vehicle pulled alongside and a person got out and shot into the parked vehicle, hitting the woman, authorities said. The shooter then fled in the vehicle.

The uninjured driver was able to drive the woman to a hospital.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined. No arrests have been made.
