Sunnyvale neighborhood center needs community’s advice

Community reps sought

The Columbia Neighborhood Center’s Community Advisory Committee is seeking new members. The committee advises the center’s administration on services and helps identify and address community needs and evaluate program efficacy and impacts to underserved families.

The committee is accepting applications from middle or high school students who reside in north Sunnyvale; Sunnyvale parents or guardians with a focus on diversity; a Sunnyvale resident, who lives in north Sunnyvale, or in an apartment, mobile home or affordable housing, or is age 50 or older; staff from a school that serves Sunnyvale families; and a staff member or volunteer with a nonprofit that serves Sunnyvale youth and/or families or is located in Sunnyvale.

The committee is also seeking members from the business community or a faith-based organization who supports the center’s mission, goal and objectives.

Test drive an EV

Explore a collection of electric vehicles (EVs) for free on Saturday, May 18, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Baylands Park, 999 E. Caribbean Drive.

Attendees can ride along as passengers or take the driver’s seat in various EV models. Learn from local EV owners and experts, and take a test drive to get a voucher for a taco or burrito. E-bikes will also be available for test rides.
