Victims in Livermore double homicide are identified; suspect still at large

LIVERMORE — While police continued to search for the suspect, two people fatally shot in a hotel room last weekend were identified Friday by the coroner’s office.

They were identified as Lizabeth Murillo-Rodriguez, 26, of Oakland, and Christopher Vera, 21, of Oakland. Authorities still have not said if they knew each other.

Livermore police said on Thursday, May 2, 2024 that they were seeking Yonston Vazquez, 30, of Oakland, as a suspect in a double homicide that happened about 6:45 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024. 

The man suspected of killing them, Yonston Vazquez, 30, of Oakland, had not been arrested as of Friday morning.

Murillo-Rodriguez and Vera were found shot to death about 6:45 a.m. April 27 at the La Quinta Inn on Southfront Road.

Investigators later identified Vazquez as the suspect.

A motive for the killings still has not been released. Police have said Vazquez knew one of the victims, but have not said which one.

The killings are the first and second homicides investigated by police in Livermore this year.
