Salvage teams have recovered the body of the sixth victim from the March 26 Baltimore bridge collapse, authorities announced Tuesday.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after a 213-million-pound cargo vessel slammed into the structure, killing six workers repairing potholes on it. The bridge was used daily by some 30,000 Marylanders.
“Today, Unified Command salvage teams located the sixth victim and promptly notified the Maryland Department of State Police,” the Unified Command, a joint task force composed of police, coast guard and other government agencies to respond to the disaster, said in a statement online.
“Maryland State Police investigators along with officers from the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the FBI responded to the scene and recovered the body of a sixth construction worker. The victim is identified as José Mynor López, 37, of Baltimore, Maryland.”
