LGHS hires familiar face
Los Gatos High School’s administrative team has a new addition: former teacher Lindsay Schubert, who was named an assistant principal. Schubert taught at the Los Gatos High for 13 years, and most recently served as principal at Branham High School in San Jose.
“We are excited to welcome Lindsay back to the school where she began her educational journey,” Superintendent Bill W. Sanderson said in a release. “During her time in leadership roles, she has consistently advocated for student-centered decisions and used her strengths in curriculum and instruction to support teacher growth and collaboration.”
Schubert’s appointment comes after the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District named current assistant principal Dave Poetzinger as the new Los Gatos High principal and appointed Michael Lozano as a new assistant principal. Current principal Kevin Buchanan will be retiring at the end of this year.
Poetzinger, Lozano and Schubert are all set to begin their roles on July 1.
Piano concert
Pianist Katya Grineva is set to perform at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on June 6.
Grineva, who trained in piano in Moscow, is a familiar name in the Bay Area as she has performed at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga and Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall 21 times, more than any other solo female pianist.
In Los Gatos, Grineva will play a variety of pieces, including Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and Debussy’s “Clair de Lune.” Tickets are $30 at Eventbrite.com.
