NCS D-I championship game between Granada and De La Salle moved to Monte Vista

The North Coast Section Division I Championship game between top-seeded Granada and No. 2 De La Salle has been moved to Monte High School, NCS commissioner Pat Cruickshank confirmed to the Bay Area News Group on Wednesday.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Livermore High, but to accommodate parking and capacity, the venue was switched to the Danville school.

“Both schools are in agreement with the site,” Cruickshank wrote in a text to the Bay Area News Group.

Granada has not been challenged thus far in the NCS playoffs. The Matadors defeated No. 4 Acalanes 6-0 in their semifinal game on Tuesday and have allowed just a run in three playoff games.

De La Salle stormed back to defeat No. 3 College Park at home 7-3 after beating Heritage and Liberty in the first two rounds.

Granada will be looking to snap De La Salle’s 33-game postseason win streak on Friday with pitcher Jake Sekany on the mound. Left-handed pitcher RJ Meyn will likely get the start for De La Salle.

The two teams have played each other once this season with Granada winning the March 15 game 5-4 on walk-off from Stanford commit Parker Warner.

“De La Salle is a completely different team,” Warner said after Tuesday’s win over Acalanes. “I wouldn’t say it’s a huge advantage playing them earlier in the season, but it’s De La Salle and we always bring our A game.”
