Bruce Springsteen has shared with fans his first personal update since “vocal issues” caused doctors to put him on 10 days’ rest, forcing him to postpone a chunk of his European Stadium tour.

“Hey, this is Bruce Springsteen,” The Boss said in a video posted to Instagram on Monday. “I am in Marseille, [France]. Unfortunately, I could not sing for you. But we will be back — to Marseilles, to Prague and to Milan — to give you the show of your life. That I promise you.”

On Sunday, Springsteen announced that doctors had ordered him to stop performing upon “further examination and consulting” after “vocal issues” postponed his Marseille concert on Saturday night.

Springsteen made his announcement two days before he’d been scheduled to perform Tuesday in Prague. Also postponed were his Milan dates this Saturday and Sunday.

The tour is set to resume on June 12 in Madrid, and Springsteen said Monday that was still the plan.

“In the meantime I’d like to thank our Irish fans, our British fans, our friends in Wales, for giving us a series of shows that was deeply memorable,” Springsteen said, alluding to the portion of the tour he had just finished. “We’ll be back — coming back to Madrid and Barcelona, where we plan to rock you into the ground.”

It was not the first time in recent months that health issues forced Springsteen to step back. In August, he postponed two Philadelphia shows due to an unspecified illness. The following month, he was sidelined with peptic ulcer disease, which ultimately forced him to cancel the remainder of his 2023 concert dates.
