REDWOOD CITY — Authorities ordered evacuations late Monday morning for residents living close to a massive fire that broke out at a construction site.

The blaze roared in the 2700 block of Middlefield Road and Redwood City, authorities said. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
In a social media post, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office told residents who live nearby the blaze on Pacific Avenue and Calvin Avenue to evacuate immediately. Those evacuations later were extended to include residents on Dumbarton Avenue from the train tracks to Middlefield Road.
The sheriff’s office first posted about the evacuations just before 11 a.m.
There were no immediate details on the fire itself and how long it may take to bring it under control. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
