The Corral and Patterson fires, two major blazes that burned through the Bay Area this week, have been extinguished, Cal Fire announced at the end of the week.
The Corral fire, which began near Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Site 300 in Tracy last Saturday, was 100% contained as of Thursday evening, Cal Fire announced on social media. The fire burned a total of 14,168 acres.

The Patterson fire was also 100% contained by the end of the week, according to the Cal Fire incident dashboard. The blaze, which began Monday afternoon north of the Corral fire near Livermore, covered 95 acres.
The Corral fire was California’s largest blaze of the year so far — burning more acreage in the first 24 hours than the year’s previous 1,253 fires combined. It was fueled by hills of dry grass that burn fast and hot and winds blowing up to 40 mph. Around 200 homes were placed under evacuation orders last weekend that were lifted Sunday evening.
Both fires had been 94% contained on Wednesday morning, Cal Fire previously announced.
