Outside Lands: One major headliner exits bill, new one enters

Bay Area music fans woke up on Thursday morning to learn of a major change for the 2024 Outside Lands music festival:

Hip-hop superstar Tyler, the Creator — who was set to headline the big show in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Aug. 10 — has dropped off the bill.

In his place steps soaring pop star Sabrina Carpenter, who will now serve as the Day 2 headliner.

The move was necessitated after Tyler, the Creator shared in a statement on X that, for undisclosed reasons, he would no longer be performing at two major music festivals.

“i hate saying this but i have to cancel lollapalooza and outside lands. i made a commitment that i can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were. that is not sexy at all. please please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. love,” Tyler, the Creator posted.

While Tyler, the Creator will be missed by attendees, Carpenter is certainly a marquee fill-in and will delight thousands of fans with her performance at Outside Lands. Like such fellow acts as Olivia Rodrigo and Miley Cyrus, Carpenter first became a major act via her work on the Disney Channel, appearing in the 2016 remake “Adventures in Babysitting” and the popular series “Girl Meets World.”
