Actress Nicola Peltz-Beckham planning legal action against NY groomer over dog’s sudden death

NEW YORK — Nicola Peltz-Beckham is preparing to take legal action against an upstate New York grooming company, following the sudden death of her chihuahua, Nala.

The 29-year-old actress and passionate animal rights activist has retained a legal team to go after the grooming services, and intends to hold them accountable, TMZ reported Saturday.

Earlier this month, Peltz said her dog had been evaluated by a vet and was deemed “perfectly healthy” shortly before she was taken to the grooming company, which has not been named.

But when Peltz went to pick Nala up, she claimed she “came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath.” Peltz rushed the dog to an emergency vet, where she died just hours later.

Sources told TMZ that vet records showed the dog had fluid in her lungs, neurological issues and a rapid heart rate prior to her passing, but it’s unclear what exactly caused those issues.

Peltz and her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, had reportedly used the grooming service without incident in the past, but are now left searching for answers. In an Instagram Story last Saturday, Peltz claimed the company had stopped cooperating with her legal team.

“My heart has been shattered,” Peltz wrote. “I am relentlessly investigating the situation to find out exactly what happened in that groomer’s van. I am doing everything I can to uncover the truth.”

“If her death was not due to foul play, then why isn’t the groomer cooperating with our investigation — they currently are not,” she added.

In response to people who sent her “similar horrifying experiences with their animals and groomers,” Peltz vowed to “help make sure this never happens to another family, because the pain is unbearable.”
