MOROCCO: Mill Valley travelers Hugh Vincent and Joan Watson’s adventures in Morocco earlier this year included “riding camels in the Sahara Desert to get to our camp, with a stop to watch the sunset along the way, and then the next morning, the sunrise,” Joan says, describing “just one of the many indescribable experiences we had in Morocco.
“We visited many colorful cities on our clockwise journey of 16 days around the interior of the country and would have stayed longer if given the chance. We learned the history, shopped the markets, stayed in riads — palaces turned into hotels inside the walled cities — visited a leather tanning factory and fed monkeys in the wild.”
TRAVEL TIPS: “We had a private driver, which allowed us more leeway on a daily basis. Go explore hidden alleyways, Joan says. “When we got lost, locals would walk us to wherever it was we wanted to go. Morocco is a very safe and friendly country.”
