With Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial underway in New Mexico, the actor’s Long Island home is still for sale — $10 million below the original asking price.
The upcoming reality star’s criminal trial for the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins began earlier this week. In October of 2021, the “Rust” cinematographer was killed on set of the Western film when a prop gun that contained a live round discharged while Baldwin was holding it. She was 42 years old.
Baldwin has maintained his innocence, insisting that he didn’t pull the trigger on the gun and had no idea it had live ammunition. He currently faces up to 18 months in prison.
The 66-year-old actor listed his 10,000-square-foot home in November of 2022 for just over $29 million, but he hasn’t had any luck finding a buyer even after reducing the price several times. The financial strain of the case, both in job losses and legal expenses, has been cited by the New York Times as the reason for the sale.
However, a source close to Baldwin denies money is an issue. “There is no financial strain. That house has been on the market for two years,” the insider told People, though it’s worth noting that the house was placed on the market after the “Rust” shooting.
In January of 2023, it was slashed down to $24.9 million before an additional reduction to $22.5 million in March. The home was then taken off the market completely and was relisted again in January of 2024 for $18.9 million.
Fast forward to July and the home is still for sale at the same price by Scott Bradley and Michael N. Cinque of Saunders & Associates.
Baldwin released a house tour video with his real estate agent in January in which he expressed what he loved most about living in the home.
“I fell in love with this place the moment I came here,” the “30 Rock” alum says in the video. “You just can’t get this out here anymore, you can’t buy big pieces of land.”
