MARTINEZ — Two years after he was charged, a Mountain House man has been convicted of raping women in Santa Clara and Contra Costa counties, court records show.
Qais Faizi, 35, was convicted this week of raping a woman at a party in San Ramon in 2021. Last October, he was convicted in connection with the 2017 gang rape of a woman in San Jose and sentenced to nine years in prison, court records show.
Faizi was charged two years ago in connection with both incidents, after the victim in San Ramon came forward to police. She told authorities Faizi sexually assaulted her at a party after she became intoxicated. At trial, he argued the sex was consensual.
Faizi has not yet been sentenced in the Contra Costa case and remains behind bars in the county jail system.
