OAKLAND — A 27-year-old San Leandro woman was fatally shot in North Oakland Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Her name has not yet been released pending notification of her family.
The shooting happened about 5 p.m. Saturday outside in the 4000 block of Telegraph Avenue, a busy commercial area.
The woman was shot after getting into some kind of a dispute with another person, authorities said.
The woman was taken from the scene by another person to a hospital where she later died.
Police have not yet said why the woman was in Oakland. A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.
The killing is the 51st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 53 homicides in the city.
