False identification to a peace officer: At 10:01 p.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Congress Springs and Pierce roads for a traffic violation. The driver refused to provide deputies with a driver’s license or proof of insurance, then allegedly became combative and was arrested.

Vehicle burglary: Between 9:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., someone stole the front plate off of a vehicle.

Armed robbery: At 11:32 a.m., people approached an elderly couple who were on a walk. They swapped the victim’s necklace for a fake gold necklace, then fled in a vehicle. The necklace is valued at about $2,500.

July 24

Theft by false pretenses: At 1 p.m., someone telephoned a Saratoga resident, claiming to work as bank representative. The caller instructed the victim to wire money into another bank account, to which the victim complied, for a total loss of about $98,000.

July 25

Theft by false pretenses: Someone contacted a Saratoga resident and remotely accessed their laptop. The thief transferred money from the victim’s bank account for a total loss of about $19,800.

July 26

Shoplifting: At 2 p.m., someone took about $500 worth of store merchandise without paying from Safeway on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road.

July 28

Theft: Between 8:30 a.m. and 10:20 p.m., someone walked up to a business in the 14000 block of Big Basin Way and stole a 15-year-old cat.
