Midpen board has two open seats in Cupertino, Sunnyvale

Midpen board elections

Cupertino and Sunnyvale residents  interested in running for one of two seats on the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District’s (Midpen) board of directors in the Nov. 5 general  election have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, to file the required paperwork.

Each of Midpen’s seven directors serve four-year terms on the board representing the residents of a geographic area or “ward” within Midpen’s boundaries. As of press time, incumbents Jed Cyr and Curt Riffle were running uncontested for wards 3 and 4, respectively. Both wards cover portions of Cupertino and Sunnyvale;  ward 4 also include Los Altos and Mountain View.

Eligible board candidates must be at least 18 years old and be registered to vote and reside within the ward they seek to represent. Candidates must gather signatures from 50 registered voters in their ward on a nomination form provided by Midpen’s clerk.

Those interested in running can contact Midpen’s clerk at 650-691-1200 or clerk@openspace.org to make an appointment to receive and review the required paperwork. For more information, visit openspace.org/election-information.
