Three people wounded in Oakland drive-by shooting

OAKLAND — Three people were wounded in a drive-by shooting Monday morning in West Oakland, authorities said.

The victims got their own transportation to hospitals but their conditions were not immediately available, authorities said.

No details have been released about the victims.

The shooting happened about 11 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Eighth Street, a primarily residential area in the Lower Bottoms district, authorities said.

The shooter and the vehicle they were in fled before police got to the scene.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests were announced and no suspect or vehicle information was released.

The shooting comes the day after at least four people were wounded about 4 a.m. Sunday during a sideshow at MacArthur Boulevard and Fruitvale Avenue in the Dimond district.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $15,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of Monday’s shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
