Brandon Swanson, 53, was reported missing around 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Witnesses said he had not resurfaced after falling from a boat that was going about 35 mph in Whiskey Slough, a popular area for recreational boating 12 miles northwest of Stockton.

The search continued until dark and then resumed the following morning. A body was recovered from the water around 3 p.m. Sunday; on Tuesday the medical examiner’s office confirmed it was Swanson’s.
