OAKLAND — Police here have identified a Bay Area motorist who was shot and killed here a little before 2 a.m. last week, after at least one person convinced him to stop his car and pull over.
Alfonso Najera-Hernandez, 47, was shot at least once at around 1:49 a.m. on Aug. 10, while sitting in a vehicle on the 1500 block of 12th Avenue, police said. He is believed to be a resident of San Lorenzo.

Najera-Hernandez was driving his car down 12th Avenue a few minutes before the shooting, when at least one woman flagged him down, authorities said. While he was talking to the person, another suspect ran up with a firearm, and shot Najera-Hernandez after a brief altercation.
Najera-Hernandez was able to drive a short distance before crashing his car. He was died inside his vehicle.
Police have not announced any arrests nor said if they’ve pinpointed a motive.
