BERKELEY — A person was killed in a shooting Friday afternoon in South Berkeley, police said.

Officers were called to the 3200 block of Adeline Street around 12:45 p.m. for a report of gunshots, according to the Berkeley Police Department. They arrived to find a person suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The victim received life-saving measures but died of their injuries at the scene, police said.

The death marked Berkeley’s third homicide of the year.

Police on Friday did not announce any arrests or release a description of the suspect.

In the wake of the shooting, roads were closed at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Woolsey Street and at Adeline Street and Harmon Street.
