Aug. 23-25 Bay Area festivals: Art, antiques, music, pride, hot rods

Late summer means another Bay Area weekend packed with festival choices. Here are some highlights:

Palo Alto Festival of the Arts: Celebrating the 41st year of this University Avenue event with 250 booths featuring fine and contemporary arts and crafts, the Italian Street Painting Expo along Tasso Street, live music on two stages, plus food, wine, microbrew stands. Niles Antique Faire & Flea Market: Scores of merchants will assemble on the streets of this historic Fremont district on Sunday, Aug. 25, for the 60th annual antiques and collectibles sale. Official hours are from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., but bargain hunters often arrive early with flashlights. Free admission. 37482 Niles Blvd. and nearby blocks. Details: www.niles.org

Silicon Valley Pride: “Get Loud” festival, 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, followed by parade at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, from Julian and Market streets to noon-6 p.m. festival. Rockridge Rock-N-Stroll: The merchants and restaurants of Oakland’s Rockridge district will host this blocks-long concert and festival featuring 20 bands, dozens of artists and vendors, a health and healing fair, kids’ crafts, tastings, a pup promenade, and pet adoptions. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, along College Avenue. Goodguys West Coast Nationals: This 37th annual event will feature more than 3,500 American-made hot rods, classic cars and trucks and customized vehicles at the Alameda Fairgrounds. Event features competition, special exhibits, swap meet, kids zone. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Aug. 23 and 24, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.
