RICHMOND — Police advised residents in a one-block residence of a neighborhood to stay indoors Monday as they investigated reports of a person possibly waving a gun.

The police activity happened in the 500 block of 2nd Street, according to police. Residents within one block were advised to stay indoors, and all others were told to avoid the area.
Police remained at the scene past noon, according to spokesperson Lynnelle Sanchez. A person on the porch who police said may have been armed with a gun continued to go in and out of a residence.
Initial reports to police that came in about 7:40 a.m. said a person was standing on a porch in the neighborhood and possibly waving a gun, Sanchez said.
No other information was available immediately.
