RICHMOND — Recovery crews Tuesday worked to remove the body of a person found dead in a utility hole, authorities said.

Richmond Fire Department crews were at the scene on Second Street between Cutting Boulevard and Maine Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. Multiple sources who were not identified because they were not authorized to comment confirmed the discovery.

The section of street was expected to be closed for several hours. Motorists were advised to take alternative routes.

According to PG&E, an electrical outage that affected 1,541 customers started at 2:17 a.m. Workers fully restored power by 7:07 a.m. PG&E did not say what caused the outage but that it was under investigation.

Richmond police did not return inquiries about the incident immediately Tuesday.
