Police investigating fatal shooting in West Berkeley

BERKELEY — Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead Sunday evening in West Berkeley.

The shooting happened just before 5:30 p.m. inside a residential facility on the 700 block of Harrison Street, according to the Berkeley Police Department. Paramedics tried to render aid, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet said whether the person was a resident of the facility. The person’s name has not been released.

The shooting marks the fourth killing investigated as a homicide by Berkeley police so far this year.
