‘We are outraged that this happened on our campus’: Five adults assaulted student in Dublin High locker room

DUBLIN — Five adults followed a teen boy into a campus locker room at Dublin High School and assaulted him last week, according to a message to parents from the school’s principal.

The Friday attack drew police and paramedics to Dublin High, but details of the victim’s injuries weren’t immediately available. A message authored by Principal Maureen Byrne says that police have identified some of the attackers and are working to arrest everyone involved.

“We are outraged that this happened on our campus,” Byrne’s message says. “School must be a place where all feel safe and supportive. We are working with the police to address this to the full extent of the law.”

It was the second time in a week police were called to the campus. On August 19, a prank call about a fake fight involving a weapon caused the school to briefly go on lockdown.

A spokesman for the Dublin Police Department confirmed they were investigating the incident but said they’re working to put out a public statement. He wouldn’t confirm arrests or say if investigators know the motive.

A coach and several football players who were inside the locker room assisted in stopping the attack from continuing, Byrne said.
