Oi! British beer is coming to Fremont with Freewheel Brewing

The British are coming, the British are coming! Specifically to Fremont, that is, with a Bay Area brewery that excels in making British-style beers.

Freewheel Brewing, which has an original location in Redwood City, plans to open a second taproom in the old DasBrew spot this fall. It will have a similar beer lineup to the flagship, plus grub coming from various food-truck vendors and live entertainment from time to time.

“We will have indoor and outdoor space with bar space as well as lounge space to relax with your group,” a brewery representative says via email. “We will have TVs throughout, a pool table, as well, (and) patio seating with heaters during the wintertime.”

Freewheel draws its inspiration from traditional British ales that range from malty stouts to lighter pale ales. There is a London Calling English faded ale, a creamy Oatmeal Stout and a crisp Golden Ale, for instance. The brewery also makes American favorites like lagers, pilsners and West Coast IPAs.

Details: Opening is tentatively set for October at 44356 S. Grimmer Blvd., Fremont; freewheelbrewing.com.
