Irvington football player Matthew Forbes is the boys athlete of the week for Aug. 26-31.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Forbes finished with 36.70% of the votes. De La Salle football player Duece Jones-Drew was second at 30.75%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Forbes rushed for two touchdowns and caught two more in Irvington’s 26-14 win over Gunderson. Irvington (1-0) will travel to San Francisco tomorrow where it will play Mission.
