OAKLAND — A man was shot multiple times Tuesday afternoon in East Oakland, authorities said.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was set to undergo surgery. He was initially listed in serious condition.
The shooting happened about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday outside a home in the 1400 block of 74th Avenue, a mostly residential area north of International Boulevard.
Police said initial reports were that the man was in an argument with another person when another man drove up and began shooting at him.
The person the victim was arguing with fled on foot, and the shooter fled in the vehicle before police got to the scene, authorities said.
Police did not release detailed descriptions of either person, nor of the vehicle used by the shooter. Authorities did not announce a possible motive.
The portion of 74th Avenue where the shooting happened was blocked off while police investigated.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 510-238-3426.
