McDonald’s extends its $5 Meal Deal through the rest of the year

It was just supposed to be a summer thing, but McDonald’s has extended its $5/$6 Meal Deal through the end of 2024, according to a news release from the fast food giant.

The combo includes a McDouble burger or a McChicken sandwich, small fries, four-piece piece Chicken McNuggets and a small soft drink.

The price “starts at $5” and goes up to $6 in some markets, as fine print on the McDonald’s website explains. In Southern California, a spot check of Southern California restaurants shows the McChicken sandwich going for $5 while the McDouble goes for $6.

The $5 Meal Deal became news in May, a time when McDonald’s was plagued by complaints about prices on social media. The deal launched in late June and was expected to run four weeks.

McDonald’s has other offers for app users, including 50-cent Double Cheeseburgers on National Cheeseburger Day, Wednesday, Sept. 18, and Free Fries Fridays, which will also continue through the end of 2024.
