SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks announced their roster and initial schedule for the start of training camp.
Practices begin Thursday at Sharks Ice in San Jose.
The Sharks roster includes 40 forwards, 22 defensemen, and six goalies. The camp will be divided into three groups for at least the first three days, with practices held at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon. Two of the groups will scrimmage against each other at 9:50 a.m. at Tech CU Arena.
Players in each group have not yet been announced and could change daily.
Sharks prospects Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, Collin Graf, Filip Bystedt, and Sam Dickinson, among others, will all be taking part in their first NHL training camp. Newcomers to the Sharks include veteran forwards Tyler Toffoli, Alex Wennberg, Carl Grundstrom, and Ty Dellandrea, defensemen Jake Walman and Cody Ceci, and goalies Vitek Vanecek and Yaroslav Askarov.
All practices and scrimmages are free and open to the public. However, parking at Sharks Ice in San Jose is limited, with spillover parking available for a fee across Alma Ave. in the San Jose State Parkade.
Spectators who wish to watch the practices and scrimmages are asked to enter through the main lobby of Sharks Ice, which faces South 10th Street, and proceed through the connector area before reaching the Sharks’ main practice rink.

Thursday — Practices: Group A, 9 a.m.; Group B, 11 a.m.; Group C, noon; Scrimmage: Group A vs. Group B, 9:50 a.m.
Friday — Practices: Group B, 9 a.m.; Group C, 11 a.m.; Group A, noon; Scrimmage: Group B vs. Group C, 9:50 a.m.
Saturday — Practices: Group C, 9 a.m.; Group A, 11 a.m.; Group B, noon; Scrimmage: Group C vs. Group A, 9:50 a.m.
Sunday – Practice: Nongame group, 10 a.m.; Game group vs. Vegas Golden Knights, 5 p.m., SAP Center.
Monday – Team day off
Tuesday – Game group, 10:30 a.m. skate, 7 p.m. game vs. Anaheim Ducks, 7 p.m., SAP Center; Non-game group, practice, noon.
