SAN JOSE – All indications were Macklin Celebrini would play in his first career NHL preseason game Sunday when the San Jose Sharks host the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center.
Celebrini was listed among the players who could be in the lineup for Sunday’s exhibition game. The Sharks list 20 skaters and two goalies, Mackenzie Blackwood and Georgi Romanov. Two skaters will be scratched.
Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky will likely confirm whether Celebrini is in later Sunday morning.
Celebrini, selected No. 1 overall by the Sharks in the June NHL Draft, has been centering a line with Tyler Toffoli and Klim Kostin on the wings in the first two days of camp. Both Toffoli and Kostin are listed among the players who could dress Sunday.
Celebrini took part in power-play drills during Sunday’s morning skate, playing on the first unit with Tyler Toffoli, Luca Cagnoni, Mikael Granlund and William Eklund.
The Sharks had Henry Thrun, Klim Kostin, Collin Graf, Quentin Musty and Jack Thompson on the second unit.
Celebrini played in one game for the Sharks at the seven-team Rookie Faceoff event in El Segundo earlier this month.
