Campbell Oktoberfest

Don your dirndl and lederhosen for the 29th annual Campbell Oktoberfest, set for Oct. 19-20 in downtown Campbell.

German beers will be served in the Biersch Garten, and authentic German food will be available for purchase. The Zicke Zacke band will play German music. Oktoberfest also features Stein Holding and Best Dressed contests, four performance stages and a kids zone. More than 100 arts and crafts vendors will set up booths along the streets of downtown.

Campbell Oktoberfest is Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Oct. 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information and to pre-purchase drink tickets, visit CampbellOktoberfest.com.

Educational awards

The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) received the Large County Office of the Year award from the California County Superintendents last month at the 2024 annual awards.

The award recognizes the SCCOE’s work on diversity, equity and inclusive initiatives; whole child implementation; students with disabilities; supporting arts education; and other work that leads best practices in the state.

Ironically, recently ousted SCCOE Superintendent Dr. Mary Ann Dewan was presented with the national Outstanding Individual Achievement Award from the Association of Educational Services Agencies.
