Martha Stewart may be close to perfect when it comes to home economics, but the diva of domesticity has revealed she was far from it during her near-30 year marriage.
In a new documentary for Netflix, Stewart admits to cheating on her ex-husband, Andrew Stewart, while doling out marital advice to young women.
“If you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s–t. Get out of that marriage,” the 83-year-old audaciously says in the trailer for “Martha.”
But a producer quickly interjects: “Didn’t you have an affair early on?”
“Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that,” Stewart responds.
The lifestyle mogul was married to literary publishing executive Andrew Stewart from 1961 to 1990. The couple welcomed their daughter, Alexis Stewart, in 1965.

Martha Stewart opened up about their acrimonious split during a 2020 interview.
“Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me, because we were the first to divorce in my family,” she told People. “That we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life.”
Stewart, who in the documentary refers to herself as “the first female self-made billionaire in American history,” says she has âsurvived the rigors of time, of marriage, of childbearing, of building a business from scratch.”
“I have survived very nicely, and I think I make the most of it,” she says.
“I could’ve just been a miserable, has-been housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to myself. And I’m so happy I didn’t,” Stewarts adds, closing out the trailer.
“Martha,” helmed by “The September Issue” director R.J. Cutler, will launch on Netflix Oct. 30.
