Cirque du Soleil headed back to Bay Area with a new show

What’s described as Cirque du Soleil’s first new and original production created since the pandemic is coming to the Bay Area in early 2025.

The Big Top show, “Echo,” said to be inspired by the connection between humans and animals, will play under a big top at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose from April 8 to May 11.

Tickets are now on sale for Cirque Club members. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Oct. 21 at www.cirquedusoleil.com/echo. Ticket prices for the San Jose run were not disclosed. They’re ranging from $58-$388 (subject to change) for other stops on the tour so far.

The 125-minute production, described as a “story of connection, intention, and the symbiotic unions between humans and the animal kingdom,” will follow a female protagonist named Future as she and others “discover that their choices have the potential to influence the world as they progress through the stages of evolution.”

Of course, the show will also feature Cirque du Soleil’s famed acrobatics and other circus-like stunts, as well as a blend of poetry, music and high-tech effects.

“We are thrilled to be back in San Jose with our latest show, ‘Echo,’” said Duncan Fisher, president of Cirque’s Touring Show Division. “We can’t wait to transform the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds and immerse the audience into this fantastical journey under the big top.”

“Echo,” which debuted in 2023, marks the first show created since the pandemic and its worldwide shutdowns prompted Cirque du Soleil’s owners to file for bankruptcy in 2022.

It is the famed circus troupe’s 20th production overall.
