1 WATCH: Great weekend for movies
Two very different films that may well figure in Hollywood’s awards season open in theaters this weekend, a papal thriller (yes, we used “papal” and “thriller” in the same sentence) and a sexy (R-rated) rom-com. We strongly recommend seeing both, but maybe not back-to-back.

2 DEVOUR: Breakfast in heaven
Nothing starts a day off right like a hearty and tasty breakfast sandwich (you can pretend to think about exercising while you chow down), and these 9 spots serve up some of the best.
3 SEE & HEAR: Great shows and fests are all over
From a memorable Dia de los Muertos celebration to funny plays about uncommon subjects, there is a lot to see and do in the Bay Area this weekend.
4 POP & SCARF: Pop up some magic
Nothing beats cozying up for a couple hours (or an entire day; we don’t judge here) with a fun movie or TV/streaming show. And don’t forget the popcorn.
5 SEE & HEAR: Jazz amore
Drummer Darnell Green and singer/saxophonist Camille Thurman are top-flight New York jazz musicians with a trio of Bay Area gigs. And their love story will warm your heart.

7: PLAY, EAT & DRINK: Just follow 128
That’s California Highway 128, which is a terrific jaunt, heading west from Winters through Napa to the coast. Here’s an itinerary.
