Holidays are coming up, but remember that we are still in fire season. Our Los Gatos neighborhood had a heart-stopping reminder recently when a brushfire erupted in a heavily wooded hillside. Many thanks to the firefighters who responded quickly to extinguish the one-acre blaze. It could have been a far different outcome. The Saratoga Fire District and County Fire remind us all to clear brush for a defensible space around our homes. Their website has what could be life-saving fire safe tips: www.sccfd.org.

Readers may remember that my wallet was lifted from my purse last July. The sheriff’s department was responsive, followed up and earned my respect. I never expected to see the wallet or its contents again, but almost four months later, an anonymous package with my wallet was delivered. Some items were missing, but those tortuously difficult items to replace were intact. There are good people out there!
