Friends book sale
The Friends of the Milpitas Library are holding a book sale Dec. 6-8, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. The quarterly sale features a large number of books and media from all genres.
Sunday is bargain day, with a grocery bag full of books and media going for $5. On Friday and Saturday, books are priced at $1.50 per inch, CDs are four for $1, and software and games are $1 each. Audiobooks, DVDs and BluRay discs are $2 each, while box sets of same are individually priced based on the number of discs in the set.

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority’s Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) is looking to fill two vacancies. One representative is sought for District 6, which encompasses San Jose’s Alum Rock area. Applicants must reside within the district’s boundaries, preferably be a registered voter and have experience participating with community groups within the district.
An at-large representative is also needed on the committee. This representative should be able to demonstrate a general knowledge of and involvement in committee activities and areas of interest, including agriculture, business, civic organizations, development community, parks, public health and safety and/or trails. Applicants must reside within the authority’s boundaries.
