Mountain View center lands new movie theater, restaurants, stores

MOUNTAIN VIEW — A high-profile store, dining and cinema complex in Mountain View has landed several new tenants, including top-notch movie, restaurant and retail merchants.

The Village at San Antonio Center, a retail, restaurant, grocery, movie, hotel and housing hub in Mountain View, says it has landed a slew of merchants within its mixed-use neighborhood in Mountain View.

The new leases total 90,000 square feet, according to Brookfield Properties, the principal owner of the retail and restaurant hub at 645 San Antonio Road.

Here are the details of the latest rental deals within The Village at San Antonio:

— Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has leased 64,500 square feet.

— Hyundai and Genesis of Mountain View, an automotive showroom presenting Hyundai and Genesis vehicles from Cardinale Automotive Group, leased 11,000 square feet.

— The Art of Problem Solving, an education center focused on advanced learning and enrichment programs, leased 6,000 square feet.

— Shake Shack, a high-profile burger hot dot and milkshake outpost, leased 2,500 square feet.

— Ben’s Barketplace, a one-stop pet nutrition and wellness store, rented 2,200 square feet.

— Slice House, a pizzeria and slice restaurant, leased 1,800 square feet.

— Skin Laundry, a specialty skincare provider, rented 1,000 square feet.

Sushi Adachi restaurant, Palmetto Superfoods and Bodyrok pilates are listed in the “coming soon” section of The Village center’s website.

“Welcoming this exciting lineup of retailers to The Village at San Antonio Center underscores our commitment to thoughtfully curating the best in dining, entertainment, and lifestyle for the Mountain View community,” said Brookfield Properties executive vice president David Sternberg.

Separately, Alamo Drafthouse has also decided to open a location at Westfield Valley Fair in San Jose.

Alamo Drafthouse is taking over two South Bay sites where ShowPlace ICON had operated movie theaters for years until the company abruptly halted operations and closed cinema sites nationwide, including the ones in Mountain View and San Jose.

All of the deals, including the burst of leases landed by The Village at San Antonio Center, provide a hopeful counterpoint to the dreary landscape for the commercial real estate market in the Bay Area.

Brokers Josh Shumsky, Matt Sweeney, and Megan McArthur with commercial real estate firm The Econic Co. represented Brookfield Properties in the string of leases in the Mountain View retail, restaurant and movie center.

“With innovative concepts like Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and beloved outposts such as Shake Shack joining us, we’re thrilled to enhance this vibrant destination with new, engaging experiences for our visitors,” Sternberg said.
