California toddler fatally shot after 7-year-old brother finds gun in truck

A toddler was fatally shot after his 7-year-old brother found a gun in the glove box of a truck Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, in Rancho Cucamonga.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:53 p.m. to a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center at 8250 Day Creek Blvd., where they found a 2-year-old boy who had been shot, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Antioch’s 3-month shooting spree continued Sunday, with 23-year-old wounded

Deputies learned the boy was inside a truck with his 7-year-old brother, who found a firearm in the glovebox. The boys’ mother was loading items into the back of the truck when the gun was fired once, striking the toddler in the head, said Mara Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting and will send a report to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review of any possible charges.
