‘Billie Car’: Eilish fans can take special train to concert at SAP Center

SAN JOSE — Billie Eilish fans attending her two sold-out concerts at SAP Center this week can travel on Caltrain and, for Tuesday’s performance, enjoy a ride in an Eilish-themed “Billie Car.”

For Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour stops in San Jose Tuesday and Wednesday, the 22-year-old music phenom is partnering with Caltrain to encourage fans to use public transportation instead of driving.

On Tuesday, fans can hop a ride on the “Billie Car,” which will be train 522, leaving from San Francisco’s 4th and King streets station at 5:19 p.m. The express train will make stops at stations in San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale, arriving at San Jose’s Diridon Station at 6:18 p.m. During the ride, “Billie Car” passengers have the chance to win official tour merchandise.

The “Billie Car” won’t be in service on Wednesday, but fans can still catch the express train that day and arrive at San Jose’s Diridon Station at 6:18 p.m. Showtime is 7 p.m.

After both concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the last training leaving from San Jose will depart at 11:30 p.m.

“Hit Me Hard and Soft” is Eilish’s seventh headlining tour. The multiple Grammy and Oscar winner was just 16 when she embarked on her first headlining jaunt in 2016, and ticket demand for her shows seems to keep growing each year, the Bay Area News Group’s music critic Jim Harrington wrote.

SAP Center also is gearing up to host Eilish, by changing up its concessions menu for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The center will only serve vegan and vegetarian dishes — in line with Eilish’s advocacy for plant-based diets and other sustainable practices. That means attendees can still get pizza and hot dogs — just the non-meat versions. Vendors also will offer vegan soul food and veggie sushi rolls and teriyaki bowls.
