James Logan basketball player Iwa Lealao is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Dec. 9-14.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Lealao finished with 45.05% of the vote. Leigh basketball player Ashley Saban placed second, and Silver Creek soccer player Natalia Niebles took third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
The sharp-shooting point guard scored 17 points and made five 3-pointers in a 54-44 victory over Washington. She finished the week averaging 15.5 points per game.
The Athlete of the Week poll will take a two-week break during the holidays. The next poll is on Jan. 6.
