A Covina teacher arrested in October on suspicion of molesting a student has now been charged with felony and misdemeanor counts alleging he committed sex acts on two underaged female students beginning in 2022, authorities announced Tuesday.

Joshua Daniel McGinn, 41, who was initially arrested by Covina Police on Oct. 2, has been charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor and was being held without bail, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said. Among the felony counts is one alleging possession of child or youth pornography.
After his initial arrest and release from custody two days later, McGinn was arrested again Dec. 18. McGinn has been a teacher at Charter Oak High School.

“Prosecutors from our Sex Crimes Division are working tirelessly to ensure justice is served for the victims and their families,” LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement.
“We also want to encourage anyone who may have additional information or has been victimized to come forward and report information to the Covina Police Department. Your courage in speaking out is vital, and we are here to ensure justice is served,” Hochman said.
Information wasn’t available on whether McGinn is still employed at the Charter Oak Unified School District.
If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and six months in state prison.
His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 6 at the West Covina Courthouse.
