Concord: Man charged after police seize guns, 55 lbs of pot at illicit drug business

CONCORD — A 27-year-old man has been charged with possessing four guns and 55 pounds of marijuana at an illegal drug business allegedly being run out of a local apartment.

The Concord and Daly City resident was charged with possessing a mini AK-style rifle, three pistols and controlled substances for sale. He has been wanted for six weeks on the charges, and has not yet entered a plea, records show.

It all stems from a Nov. 11 traffic stop, where Concord police pulled over the man and observed evidence he’d been smoking marijuana while driving. Inside the car were five pounds of marijuana, dozens of suspected painkiller pills and two pistols, police said.

The bust led to a search of the man’s apartment on the 1800 block of Galindo Street near Todos Santos Plaza in Concord, where police say they found an additional 50 pounds of marijuana, seven ounces of cocaine, the AK-style rifle, a .45 caliber pistol and evidence that the drugs were being packaged and shipped.

The man reportedly denied living there, but an apartment manager identified him as a tenant and police found his rental agreement, authorities said.
