The GX is known for its off road capabilities and ability to handle rough terrain. It has increased ground clearance and squared off body lines. Most GX variants have 3 rows of seats but the off road focused Overtrail version seats 5. Plus, the GX 550 comes with standard safety features like blind spot monitoring, backup cameras, lane departure warning and 4 wheel stability control.
This week, Lexus sent me a 2024 GX 550 to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this Premium+ Edition is $67,900. The options on this 4WD model are: the head up display for $900, the cold area package for $200, the rear tonneau cover for $110, the digital key with smart access card key for $375 and the traffic jam assist package for $620. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,350 destination charge, is: $71,455.
After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your driveway total purchase price came to: $80,387. At just $387 bucks over $80 Grand, this 2024 Lexus SUV has all the best equipment as a great Premium+ SUV.

Performance starts with a 3.4 liter V/6 twin turbo gas engine with 349 HP and 479 lbs/ft of torque, bolted to a 10 speed automatic transmission, routed into a 4 wheel drive traction control system, with a Torsen limited slip center differential that has a locking feature for positive control and extra stability on any road and in any weather event.
Tech and multimedia include a 14″ touchscreen and a 12.3″ dashboard screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six USB ports, Bluetooth, remote engine start, push button start, a digital key, head up display, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, road sign assist, lane tracing assist, radar cruise control, parking assist, rear pedestrian detection, front cross traffic alert, lane departure alert with steering assist, blind spot monitor, rear traffic cross alert, intelligent high beams and a driver attention monitor; just to name a few.
