San Jose police responded to a call of a car hitting a pedestrian around 5:58 p.m. on Dec. 11 near Flickinger Avenue and Hikido Drive. During the investigation, they found out that a man driving a 2007 silver Toyota Camry was driving westbound on Hikido Drive and turning onto southbound Flickinger Avenue. The car hit a man who was crossing Hikido Drive eastbound in the crosswalk.
The driver stayed at the scene when officers responded and cooperated with their investigation, the SJPD news release said. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but his condition later stabilized.
However, police were notified on New Year’s Day that the man had died from his injuries on Dec. 19.
This was the 48th fatal collision and traffic death in the city in 2024. The man was the 19th pedestrian death of the year.
