OAKLAND — A 29-year-old woman shot late Thursday night at an East Oakland gas station died early Friday, becoming the city’s third homicide of the year, authorities said.
The name of the woman, an Oakland resident, has not been released pending notification of her family.
The shooting happened about 11;56 p.m. Thursday at the Kwik Serv gas station in the 2200 block of East 12th Street.
Initial reports were that the woman was shot after getting into a dispute with another person. Police have not said yet what the dispute was about.

The suspect fled before police got to the station.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she died several hours later early Friday, authorities said.
The killing is the third homicide of the year investigated by Oakland police and the seventh since Monday. Last year at this time police had investigated one homicide in the city. The final tally of homicides in Oakland last year was 86, down from 126 homicides in 2023.
