Man shot in West Oakland store parking lot

OAKLAND — A 51-year-old man was shot in a West Oakland store parking lot Monday night, authorities said.

The Oakland man was in stable condition at a hospital.

The shooting happened about 6:20 p.m. Monday in a parking lot at State Market Liquor in the 700 block of Willow Street, police said.

Man shot by Oakland police sergeant had been sentenced to house arrest for illegal gun possession 2 days earlier

Police said the man told officers he was driving through the lot when someone began shooting at his vehicle.

The suspect fled in another vehicle before police responded to the scene.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.  No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released by police.
